SYNOPSIS
Golden Child is the fourth instrumental album from The Kid Flames. The project finds the producer reflecting on his life, where he’s been and who he is through a dark, hard-hitting, meditative collection of beats. Not unlike the rest of his projects, for this new odyssey he leans even more heavily into the realms of the classic Boom Bap and Lo-fi stylings that defined his solo debut, Things Left On Purpose (2019), but are now blended with some of the quieter reflections of its immediate follow-up, Without Seeing the Staircase (2019).

About the album two years in the making, he says, “I needed to take the time to live some, and let things be revealed while thinking back and exploring my life through the lens of my younger self. Both, to recognize the origins of my faults and shortcomings, but also to celebrate and be grateful for those things being the driving force behind my evolution as a person. Then, naturally, allow the revelations to play out in the creation of the music. And such things are not only incredibly difficult to unearth, but those that take a little time. I’m definitely anxious for everyone to hear what the thoughts and feelings I had during this period of my life turned into. I worked to dial it back and really take my time with this one, because it was necessary. It’s an idea I’m trying to put into practice in my own life, as well – to slow down, be present and grateful. This is my story.”
